I've been carrying on and I forgot to mention—my name is Derek Brigham and I live in the 'great white north' of Minnesota. I have clients all over America and love the technology that helps us all communicate at the speed of light. I've been doing illustration, design and typography for over 20
years on a Mac, of course.
This site
is primarily a portfolio of my graphic design and illustration work. I work mostly in Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Quark. I work in a variety of artistic styles and bring that spark to many outlets: newsletters, postcards, direct mail, magalogs, book
design, catalogs, DVDs, logo development, montages, technical, editorial and product
illustration for print or multimedia. Yes, I also create web pages, and interactive
kiosks.
The more the better?
Now, I know there are those who say, "just show two or three of your best design projects in a given category. You don't want to show too much, it gets busy." What? Sure, everyone wants to present their projects well—to look clean on the page—you don't want to look like a flea market. But, the trouble is not everyone thinks like designers, or, pardon the phrase—outside their box.
So, say you've designed several pieces for the industrial or financial market and they are your best designs, should you show only them? They'll look 'clean', but folks looking to see if you've also created strong projects targeted to children, or politics, or health may think that's just not your bag unless they see them. Show them—problem solved.
